With the late Steve Jobs being one of the men behind the classic Breakout brick breaker game, it is only natural that a remake of the classic loved by millions around the world be designed for one of his other creations, that is the iOS platform.

Action Block Buster takes the game adored by many to a new level, by introducing a twist into it in terms of control while adding a trace of pinball to spice things up. In your typical brick breaker game, players control a paddle that can be moved from left to right and vice versa, bouncing a ball of it to break scores of bricks floating in the play area above. In Action Block Buster, the paddle can not only move from left to right but is granted a 360 degree motion instead. This means the paddle can maneuverer around the entire perimeter of the game play area. The game is started by pulling a spring back and releasing it to launch the ball into the play area, pinball style.

This breakout control system, no pun intended, also means that players can bounce the ball off not just one surface but off the back side as well. This gives players some form of extended control over where the ball is headed, making it easier to aim at certain bricks. Say goodbye to nerve wrecking situations whereby one awkwardly positioned brick lies virtually impossible to hit.

Credits must also be given to the visual department in designing this app. Set in space with a futuristic space age look without appearing awkward; this is definitely one visually appealing game.

• Controls take a while to get used to.
