Hot Springs Village, Arkansas – Sascyn Publishing today announces an iPad mini is being given away by four educational app developers who work with Apps With Curriculum, which creates Common Core-aligned lesson plans for apps. Apps With Curriculum is owned by Sascyn Publishing, Inc.
The iPad mini, a Cygnett WorkMate case, and a selection of apps will be given away in a raffle that kicks off Cyber Monday, Nov. 26, and ends Dec. 17. The raffle is being held in conjunction with “Mini Madness” by The iMums, a children’s tech review site. To enter, visit TheiMums.com.
“Apps With Curriculum empowers teachers by not only providing Common Core-aligned curriculum for book apps but by also promoting technology in the classroom,” said Cyndie Sebourn, founder of Apps With Curriculum. “The integration of technology in the classroom promotes 21st Century Learning Skills, enabling students to be college and career ready. iPads in the class environment are a vital tool for improving student learning.”
Participating in the giveaway are “Smarty Britches: Nouns,” an app for first-third graders about a southern boy and that teaches nouns; “Brush of Truth,” an app for third-sixth graders about an enchanted paintbrush; “Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island,” an app for first-third graders about a young treasure hunter; and “Penelope the Purple Pirate,” and “Gerry the Giraffe,” apps for first-third graders about a spunky girl pirate and a giraffe who works hard to accomplish his goal. All five apps will be on sale in iTunes on Cyber Monday to mark the kick off the iPad mini giveaway.
The iPad mini giveaway is open worldwide. Entrants can Tweet, share and like on Facebook, and post comments on the contest site to gain additional entries.
Apps With Curriculum works with book app developers under the direction of Sebourn, a National Board Certified Teacher with more than 20 years in the classroom. The developers offer free language arts, creative writing, and Project-Based learning exercises that are aligned with Common Core State Standards and that allow their apps to be successfully used in a classroom setting.
“We feel the iPad mini’s price and portability will make it more attractive to educators,” said Julie Landry Laviolette, who developed “Brush of Truth.” “The iTunes app store has a wealth of book apps that engage young readers through interactivity, music, narration and/or text highlighting.”
