ArtStudio

Post Rating

ArtStudio by Lucky Clan is one fabulous application!  This professional drawing and painting app combines incredible pinpoint accuracy with an abundant tool set; ArtStudio is a perfect companion for artists on the go.  I’ve dabbled in quite a few painting and drawing iPhone apps and this one has ‘em all beat by a long shot.  Many of the features resemble that of full-blown image manipulation software.  You have 25 brushes, layers that can be turned on and off (along with great features like delete, reorder, duplicate, merge, clear, transparency and visibility), as well as multi-touch navigation control.  Pinch and zoom your way around the canvas as you create.  Tap corners or shake the phone for quick access to the menu’s.  It’s really a unique experience to design on an accurate touch device such as the iPhone and ArtStudio makes it that much better.

What makes the app really shine is it’s attention to detail. Lucky Clan seem to get the most out of the device by using some “advanced mathematics” technology.  What does this mean exactly?  Well, in a nut shell the program does what you want it to do.  The accuracy of all the tools along with other features provide a great means for artists to get their images across.

With years and years of experience on Photoshop I know a thing or two about art and design (though it’s hard to compare ArtStudio to Photoshop because it is meant for a different platform).  ArtStudio has thought up an interesting way to work by way of touch, tapping the bottom corner brings up a slick well organized menu in optimum location.  Tap the upper left and right corner’s for undo/redo.  The one thing I kept thinking over and over again was “I CAN”T WAIT TO TRY THIS APP ON iPAD!”.  ArtStudio would really excel on a device that has more real estate.  I felt a bit cramped when attempting to edit a few images I had imported.  Speaking of importing/exporting, ArtStudio has many features like Load, Save, Import Photo, Export Photo, Get From Camera (takes a quick snap shot and loads it directly in the app), and Send By E-Mail.  It also has some really handy tutorials that show you step-by-step how to use the application.

In closing, ArtStudio has some unique features that have never been seen on a mobile device, making it a must-have application if you need to create on the go.  Whether you are a beginner or a professional, this app is sure to please.
