Looking for a new way to test your hand-eye coordination? Well if so, give BATAK Duel a shot! This game, developed by DN Publications Ltd, has an interesting twist on a way to challenge your reaction time. It all starts with a creative story line right out of a page from a Sci-Fi film: THE FUTURE: 2462 – Following a devastating alien invasion, all human beings have been enslaved by a sadistic race known as the “Kardacks”. Earth has been transformed into a vast, hi-tech prison, with no way of escape, apart from death…or by participating in the deadly “games”. And the Kardacks love their games! Introducing their favorite game…BATAK Duel!
The premise of the game is to tap a white circle target immediately after it illuminates. Each white target grants you 1 point. A puzzle grid is laid out with 12 touch zones which sporadically light up all over the screen. The faster and more accurate you are in tapping the white targets, the better! You must challenge 10 opponents in a battle of reaction and coordination. Each opponent gets harder and faster as you advance. In addition to the harder challengers, the game also throws you curve balls along the way to make the game-play even more demanding. Your opponents also rack up points as the game goes on. So the challenge is to get more points than your opponent before the 6o second time-frame runs out. Remember that Groundhog game at Chuck E. Cheese where you had to smash the heads in as fast as they popped up with a mallet? Well this game is taking that same concept, but you are “touching and tapping” instead of “swinging and smashing”!
Borrowing from a Mortal Kombat looking graphic by stacking the opponents up in ladder formation, BATAK Duel did a good job with character design. We enjoyed the creativity that went into the characters as well as the overall theme behind the game. Of course if you take this elaborate storyline away, you are left with a familiar feeling in game-play that other hand-eye-coordination-type games offer. BATAK Duel simply does a better job in presentation and set up.
Some additional features and noteworthy features in BATAK Duel:
BATAK Duel is a decent overall app if you are into reaction and speed-test gaming. We have seen quite a few hand-eye coordination games hit the app store, and while this genre of gaming has definitely been tapped from all different angles, as long as a new twist is included, we feel like it has a place in the market. Give you reaction time a test! Download BATAK Duel and see how you fair against those malicious Kardacks!
