Children’s Bible, created by BCNmultimedia is a well developed app containing comic books about biblical stories. This app is targeting young children between the ages of 7 – 13. It’s an educational avenue for children, put in an easy to understand format. The price of the app is FREE, though please note that you have to purchase additional packs to make the app worth while.

The illustrations are pretty detailed and the navigation is quite simple to figure out while also providing a slick way to get through the scenes. Tapping the screen to the right advances you to the next frame, though the actual transition from one scene to another animates by shifting, scanning and zooming across the page, making for a nifty scene change. Tapping the center of the screen takes you to the controls menu, which is basically a visual menu of the comic that allows you to scan through each page for reference. The app also allows you to pinch and zoom into hard to read text areas.

The Bible is meant to be read by a more mature, older audience (in general terms), so having this app tailors the teachings of the bible in comic book form and makes this not only an appropriate app but also a spiritually enlightening one that’s also entertaining in the process.

Children’s Bible comes with one free story, the “Birth Of Jesus”. This comic is 4 pages long and tells the story of the angel appearing to Mary, the search for a room at an inn, the birth in a manger and the shepherds visit. Readers can purchase additional comics and activities from within the app for $2.99 (at the time we reviewed the app there was a Christmas sale, making the cost $1.99). Each additional comic is 25 pages. The list of available in-app packs are:

Children’s Bible is available through the iTunes App Store as a free download for iPhone and iPod Touch devices. With seven languages to select from, full-color comic book style art work, and intuitive navigation controls that guide you through the pages, this app is a great tool to teach your child about the Lord above in a fun and engaging manner. The quality and solid development behind the app easily makes it a SlapApp “4 finger” rating, though the cost of the individual packs may deter some from getting the most out of it, so keep that in consideration prior to trying it out.

Classics2Go Collection by KiwiTech is a well put together reader app that allows you to take your favorite classics with you wherever you go. It doesn’t take long to realize that a lot of time and attention to detail has been put into this app. Immediately after the app opens you are met with a bookshelf jam packed with timeless classics; 45 in all. Simply swipe your finger to flip through your collection. Any books you select will show at the top in the My Books section. The My Books section comes in handy because it helps you keep track of all of the books that you’re currently reading. When finished reading a book, simply double tap it to return it back to the shelf.

The Classsics2Go Collection interface is easy to use. It has some built in features that make reading on your iPhone and iPod Touch a cinch. Flipping through pages is easy. Just swipe your finger back and forth as if you’re flipping through pages in a real book. You never have to worry about bookmarking a page. When you exit a book it automatically marks the page for you so you’re guaranteed to never lose your place. Classics2Go Collection also has done a good job making sure all of the font is large enough for most people to read with ease.

If there were any suggestions we had for improving this app it’d be to allow for folks to zoom in and out as well as to turn their iPhone in a landscape position to increase the font size. With those minor tweaks we’re confident that everyone will be able to read their favorite classics with ease.

Simply put, Stanza is an excellent e-reader! Ok, Ok, I know you may be saying to yourself, “I would never read a book on my phone”, or “I only read paper books, I’d never read an e-book”. Well it’s time you reconsider. SERIOUSLY!

Stanza is so complete it’s sure to change you point of view on e-book reading. Whether you’re an avid bookworm or a periodic, ok maybe even less than periodic reader, you’re sure to appreciate this app. Stanza perfectly formats books for the iPhone screen for easy reading. For those of you that prefer to add your own personal touches; it includes viewing customizations such as font style and size, line spacing, margin width, page background color, language, and much more! Easy to understand menus, cover flow viewing, and touch and swipe functionality make navigating Stanza a breeze. Also, never worry about losing your place in a book; Stanza automatically remembers where you left off, so the next time you open that e-book you’re ready to rock. Reading has never been so easy!

Bumblebee Touchbook is a cute interactive and educational iPhone application ideal for kids ages 1- 4 years old. The app comes with a short 3D-animated movie and interactive learning activities that help toddlers learn how to speak words and to count. The colorful cartoon like scenes and cute little bumblebees used in Bumblebee Touchbook instantly draw a little ones attention, and if that’s not enough, they can touch words to hear them spoken and to animate scenes. This app is sure to keep your kids busy; at least for a little while!

If there are any downsides to this app it’s that it is pretty short. You can go from beginning to end in no time. The only other minus I can see with this app is that you have to be willing to let your little one handle your iPhone.
