Tikis can be a real problem can’t they? Always getting in the way, making us late for work or school. Okay, okay, tikis may not be much of a problem for us, but they certainly are for the little island people inside Coconut Riot! In this game you’ve got to become a coconut hurling master so you can rid your island paradise of the tikis that’re taking over the place. Protected by increasingly difficult obstacles you’ve got to toss exploding coconuts like Drew Brees throwing footballs to blast those pesky tikis to oblivion and beyond!
Created by Supportware, Coconut Riot blends aspects of tower defense style games with an island theme, colorful graphics, and brain twinging obstacles, and works on both iPhone and iPod Touch. To play you just touch the screen, move your finger up or down to choose your trajectory, and in or out to choose your velocity. When ready just remove your finger from the screen and watch the coconut go! It’ll probably take you a couple tries to get the hang of it, but once you do it’s pretty easy. The real tough part is figuring out how to overcome each level. You can choose between Easy and Difficult game modes. I myself chose Easy mode and got as far as Level 9 before I started to have problems. After that the obstacles are no joke.
There’s no doubt that there are many different ways in which a person can complete a level, but one thing’s for sure, it’s no cakewalk! When playing the game you can start from the beginning and attempt to beat one level after another or you can jump ahead to any level that you want, which is pretty convenient. All in all there are 30 levels to conquer, providing you with all the tiki action you can handle. Coconut Riot also includes AGON Online, which serves as it’s online global leaderboard.
All in all I found Coconut Riot to be pretty fun. It’s fairly basic as far as game apps go, but provides an adequate amount of fun and challenge. There’s a Coconut Riot FREE version that you can test drive for free to see what it’s all about. Might as well try it out to see what it has to offer. If you like what you see then it’s definitely worth downloading the full version.
