Tampa, Florida – Crazy Mike’s Apps today is pleased to announce a iPod touch 8GB giveaway tied to March Madness and the release of the new iPhone app, PocketBracket. PocketBracket: College Basketball Tournament is an iPhone app that easily allows people to keep track of their College Basketball Brackets.

The giveaway includes the following prizes:
* Grand prize: (1) iPod touch 8GB
* Second place prize: (1) $25 iTunes gift card
* Third place prize: (1) $10 iTunes gift card

Full contest details are located online. Winners for the contest will be announced on April 11 on the contest website.

PocketBracket Feature Highlights:
* Unlimited Brackets
* Pools
* Share Facebook and Twitter
* All Game Scores
* Automate Brackets

“I reviewed this app recently and really like what the creator has done with it,” said Mike Vallez, founder of Crazy Mike’s Apps. “The app has a great user interface, is very easy to use and makes tracking your college brackets enjoyable.”

PocketBracket allows anyone to create unlimited NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament brackets. Brackets are automatically scored and ranked on the PocketBracket Network. Users can also create and join pools to compete among friends, family, and coworkers. In addition, follow the tournament with game and score updates. The app comes preloaded with 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament data so you can test-drive the application before the 2010 tournament. You can create sample brackets and begin organizing your pools. Once 2010 data is available on Selection Sunday, PocketBracket will automatically update and remove your sample brackets and your pools will be ready for the 2010 tournament.

PocketBracket is currently the only application of its kind in the mobile marketpace. With an initial release to the iPhone App Store last year, PocketBracket quickly became the best and most popular NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament app. On Selection Sunday, PocketBracket climbed to #1 in Sports and the Top 100 app categories. This year, PocketBracket 2.0 was released to the App Store with dozens of new features, including a new user interface. PocketBracket included additional features in response to user feedback. PocketBracket really allows users to drive the app’s direction. PocketBracket also released to the Android Market with a full-featured version.

PocketBracket evolves the way you complete your NCAA Tournament brackets. First, there’s no more paper. PocketBracket sarcastically boasts that “2.5 million trees will survive” by using the application. Second, it automatically scores and ranks your brackets. No more adding up points yourself. Finally, PocketBracket has a “SmartPick” feature that will advance a team to later rounds of the tournament. No more repeatedly filling in a team to the final rounds. The bottom line, you will totally score with PocketBracket. PocketBracket Network Challenge begins March 14th, 2010 – Game On!

* iPhone and iPod touch

When you start out the game you’ve got a pretty bare bones runner. They’ve got mid level skills and are competing against clearly better athletes. But, as you continue to play the game you have the opportunity to enhance the capabilities of your athlete by increasing their power, stamina, response, and technique. If you play the game long enough you can groom your stick sprinter from a dud to a stud and can give anyone in the world a run for their money!

It took me quite a while to get the hang of Cartoon Sprint, mainly because the instructions in the game are terrible. Everything in the app is written in broken English and is extremely hard to understand. For example, here are a few snippets from the help page:

“You can fast running to a hit when this button lights”

“You clear a semi-final to want final round”

“In hurdles game, you can to jump when just a touch”

As you can imagine, I was even more confused after reading the instructions than I was before. Eventually through trial and error I grasped the concept of the game, and let me tell you, it’s not easy! I played and played and played and never finished better than 4th place. Hurdles are by far the most difficult. Just picture how this works. You’ve got lights on either side of your screen that you’ve to got press in the order in which they light up just to run. While concentrating on pressing those lights with both hands as quickly as you can you’ve got to simultaneously tap the middle of the screen to leap a hurdle. I seriously felt like I needed a third hand to be good at this game.

I really wanted to like Cartoon Sprint. I used to play Nintendo when I was a kid and really loved the track and field games. They were one of my favorites. However, between the poor instructions, the less than user friendly interface, and the extremely awkward game-play this app begs me not to play it. I really like the idea of the leaderboard and comparing my sprinting skills to others in my country and around the world, but I just don’t enjoy the game enough to want to try. This game could be improved a bunch if its instructions are rewritten and the interface is designed to be much more user friendly. Cartoon Sprint might’ve been a cool idea, but unfortunately it just doesn’t deliver. If you’re tempted to try this app so you can see what I’m talking about, there’s Cartoon Sprint Lite available that you can download for free.

Watch out below because we’re droppin BOMBS! Doodle Blitz by Ivan Mackintosh is all about reenacting World War II blitzkrieg operations by clearing out entire sketchbook cities using a biplane armed with not so precision bombs. The premise of Doodle Blitz is very simple. A biplane flies continuously across the screen, inching lower and lower toward the buildings below. You’ve got to time your bomb drops perfectly so that you can level all of the buildings before you crash into them. The fewer shots it takes you to destroy all of the buildings the more points you earn.

Doodle Blitz offers 5 different game modes: Standard, Fast, Behind Clouds, Machine Gun, and Double Bomb. Standard is the default game-play, in Fast mode your plane moves across the screen quicker (which I personally like best), Behind Clouds makes the game trickier because you can’t see your plane behind the clouds which makes it harder to line up your bomb drops with the grid in the game’s graph paper-like background, Machine Gun gives you a small out if you didn’t demolish a building early enough because you can fire off 3 shots from a machine gun to clear out a building in front of you that you would otherwise crash into, and Double Bomb which basically lets you drop two bombs, one after another, instead of just one at a time as in the other game modes. As you can tell by the descriptions, some modes have advantages and dissadvantages, and ultimately I think most will choose one of them as their go-to and will play that mode more often than not.

Doodle Blitz starts out really slow. I got the hang of it pretty quickly and was able to destroy all of the buildings in the first 5-6 levels with no problem whatsoever. Once you get around level 10 the game starts to get much more challenging. As you advance, the buidings appear in greater number and keep getting taller and taller. In the first few levels a single bomb will knock a building to the ground, but as the buildings get taller it requires more than one direct hit to destroy them. Because you’re limited to the number of bombs you can drop for each pass across the screan, the game becomes increasingly challenging, and requires strategy and precision timing to advance.

It took me a while to catch on to Doodle Blitz because it starts out so slow and appears to be very easy. However, if you stay patient and get through the first 5-6 levels then it actually becomes much harder and is pretty addictive. I found myself wanting to keep going back to see if I could out do my previous high score. The part of the game that I like the least is that it starts you out in the beginning everytime you play it. The beginning is so slow and easy that it gets old fast.

While playing Doodle Blitz I noticed a couple of quirks with bomb dropping. For example in all modes except Double Bomb you’re only supposed to be able to launch one bomb at a time, but I was able to launch a second rogue bomb if I waited long enough. A noticed the same thing in Double Bomb mode. I was able to launch a third bomb if I timed it right. If you’re trying to rack up accuracy bonus points then you’ll want to be mindful of how many times you touch the screen because rogue bombs typically don’t hit targets, therefore they end up negatively impacting your accuracy bonus.

In summary, Doodle Blitz by no means will blow you away, and it’s by no means perfect, but it is a catchy little game if you give it some time. I think if you like this type of game (simple, 80’s esque, but still challenging) and play it for about five minutes, you’ll probably like it.

Pros:

Not complicated to play, great for kids

It gets challenging, especially after level 10

Open Feint

Cons:

There are some quirks in the game (ex. you can launch 2 bombs when you’re only supposed to be able to launch 1)

You start at the beginning of the game everytime you play instead of picking up where you left off

You can’t pause the game during play

Version Reviewed: 1.5

Requirements: iPhone or iPod Touch; iPhone OS 3.0 or later

California based INFOMATO Inc. today released FORGET, a free application for iPhone and iPod touch devices.

Campbell, California – INFOMATO(R) Inc., a Silicon Valley startup, today unveiled FORGET, a free application that transforms the iPhone and iPod touch into a memory aid for people who are frequently stuck in tip-of-the-tongue moments or whose otherwise brilliant trains of thought are stalled, simply because they are forgetful. FORGET is built around the psychological principles of memory association and recognition, so that even scatterbrains and disorganized people can quickly enjoy its benefits.

FORGET works by integrating itself into the process of how people recall forgotten information, and then streamlines this process using patented technology. When people forget something important, they rely first on hints (memory association) to jog their memory, and then hope that the relevant information just pops into their heads. “I had to do this all the time. It was too painful, took too long, and was too unreliable. So I kept thinking: there must be a better way to remember,” said INFOMATO founder and inventor, Dr. Wayne Lo.

“FORGET makes memory association easy, effective and reliable because computer technology draws relationships much faster than our brains and, best of all, it does not forget,” said Dr. Lo. To demonstrate how FORGET works, Dr. Lo offers a simple example. In 2008, he was invited by a good friend – Guillaume – to visit his home town in southern France, near Bordeaux. His friend’s mother, Ms. Joubert, had prepared for and heartily welcomed his family’s visit. As the months went by, Dr. Lo started forgetting Ms. Joubert’s name. This was especially embarrassing when one day she happened to answer Guillaume’s telephone. Now, using FORGET, Dr. Lo just needs to associate Guillaume with Ms. Joubert. The next time he asks for Guillaume, he will see Ms. Joubert in a list of hints and quickly recognize it (using recognition memory) as that of Guillaume’s mother.

“Our ability to recognize forgotten information and connect the dots is an amazing trait unique to the human brain and difficult to duplicate using technology. Working in tandem with this trait, FORGET greatly simplifies the data entry that is required,” said Dr. Lo. Here, he could have specifically associated Guillaume’s mother (instead of Guillaume) with Ms. Joubert. But thanks to the capacity of human recognition memory, he does not need to be specific. He can recall the details without spelling them out.

By tapping into the strength of recognition memory, FORGET provides an age-proof solution. Studies show that while our ability to deliberately recall details can drop to 50 or 60% by the time we reach age 65, the capacity of our recognition memory remains at the level of an 18-year old. “FORGET is specifically designed to establish a close complementary relationship with our brain, making use of associated lists to jog our recognition memory,” said Dr. Lo.

Consider the following examples. Which would you rather remember?
* Dr. Shenasa or heart doctor?
* psyllium seed or constipation remedies?
* clopidogrel bisulfate or chest pain drug?
* T-cell lymphotropic virus type III or AIDS virus?
* 3/17/2005 or Johnny’s birthday?
* Monterey Lovers Point Inn or ocean view bargain?
* La Couronne Cafe or affordable French restaurant?
* konnichiwa or Japanese hello?

“By using FORGET to build associations, recalling the information you need is a piece of cake. The goal is to empower people like me, who might have great experience, broad knowledge and creativity, but who are continually held back by diminishing memory capacity,” concluded Dr. Lo.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone and iPod touch (2nd generation)
* Requires iPhone OS 3.1.3 or later
* 0.3 MB

Pricing and Availability:
FORGET 2.0 is free and available exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category.

Nashville, TN – Announcing that Tisha Morris, the developer of Feng Shui Bagua Map, has released a program for users interested in an easier way to improve the flow of their lives. The application is based on westernized Feng Shui, providing a bagua map, along with easy to use and follow instructions for optimizing the energy in a person’s home or office.

The app was created by author, life coach and interior designer, Tisha Morris. “As a Feng Shui consultant and iPhone lover, I noticed that there were no good Feng Shui apps available. So, I decided to create my own,” explains Morris. In designing the app, she had a few criteria that had to be met, “It had to be simple, functional and informational enough for anyone to use.”

Ease of use is one of the major attractions for users. The art of feng shui is ancient and can involve compasses and very complicated instructions. Morris adapted the more popular and widely used westernized method for creating the Feng Shui Bagua Map, so people with little or no knowledge of feng shui can still achieve the effects of clearing and improving the energy in their living and work spaces.

Naturally, the application comes equipped with a bagua map. Users can overlay onto that map, existing pictures from their phone’s photo library or snap a new one of their room or floor plan. As it is the westernized method being used, the bagua map lines up with the main door of a room or building, depending on what is being worked on.

Once the photo is in place, a user can instantly see the nine sections of their home or office. Each of those nine squares represents a different life aspect. Users can address their areas of wealth, love and relationships, career, family and creativity, travel and helpful people, health, fame and reputation, self knowledge. These areas surround the all important centre, which influences the rest of the areas.

To find out how to optimize, balance and harmonize a particular space, a user merely has to tap on the square that corresponds with the area they want to enhance. All the necessary instruction is revealed so that a user can begin immediately.

Morris has ensured a smooth, painless experience by including some important features and functions in her application, like allowing users to save and create as many feng shui maps as they want and by providing in-depth information about each sector of the map. It’s like having a coach present to explain and guide users through the feng shui process for each area of life.

Features:
* Easy to use and follow
* Based on westernized feng shui methods
* Bagua Map can be viewed in Portrait or Landscape mode depending on the general shape of the space to feng shui
* Import or take photo or sketch of floor plan, room, etc. from camera photos and superimpose the Bagua Map onto it for a bird’s eye view
* Saves finished Feng Shui floor plan, users can create as many as they want
* Provides in-depth characteristics, application, remedies, and enhancements for each section with just a click on the map square

Anyone looking to clear energy blocks or consciously attract the greatest things that life has to offer them would do well to check out the Feng Shui Bagua Map. It’s such a small investment with a potential for reaping enormous results.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone and iPod touch
* Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later
* 0.4 MB

San Francisco, CA – WaterField Designs, a San Francisco manufacturer renowned for its high-quality, custom notebook sleeves, bags and cases for digital gear, today introduces two cases for the Apple iPad: the sofisticated Smart Case and the super-thin iPad Slip Case. Both new cases offer protection for the iPad and come in six colors. They fit perfectly into the personal size WaterField Muzetto metro bag. WaterField now offers four iPad cases including the previously announced Ultimate SleeveCase and iPad Suede Jacket. All are available for pre-order at sfbags online.

“The Smart Case with its bold colors and distressed leather sides is a really unique, eye-catching case,” explained owner, Gary Waterfield. “The Slip Case is simple and light – but protective – and both cases are easy to spot. Users can match them to our popular Muzetto bag since the personal size is a great fit for the buzz-worthy new iPad.”

WaterField Designs’ iPad Smart Case offers solid iPad protection in serious style. An Ultrasuede(R), scratch-free liner with a high-impact, rigid insert for screen protection is enveloped by a vibrantly colored, water-resistant exterior, available in six color choices. The Smart Case is flanked by naturally tanned, distressed brown leather and – like all WaterField cases – is custom fitted; in this case to the Apple iPad dimensions.

The slender Slip Case for the iPad uses the same vibrantly colored, water-resistant fabric on its exterior. A plush interior and impact-resistant plastic protect the screen and finish the simple, light case. Both new iPad cases are light, protective and easy to spot among bag contents.

WaterField’s four TSA-friendly case options for the iPad – the Ultimate SleeveCase, the iPad Suede Jacket, the iPad Smart Case, and the iPad Slip Case – allow travelers to breeze through airport security with their Apple iPad safe within its protective sleeve.
