Frequency Annoyer

Post Rating

AGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!  MAKE IT STOP!  My ears are bleeding!  Frequency Annoyer, by iPodAndiPhoneGuide.com, is an app that will cause you and the people around you to go absolutely insane! This app generates high frequency sounds ranging from levels that some cannot hear, all the way up to those that you can hear from far-far away!  Holy crap!  Where are my ear plugs???

Frequency Annoyer produces sounds that without a doubt will piss off anyone and anything around you (man, woman, child, or animal) when you unleash the fury!  To start annoying, simply launch it up, use the scroll wheel to select from five different tones, hit the ON button, then get ready for some annoying noise! Upon starting up a frequency, a rotating blue-striped banner begins to swirl and animate in the background. That’s the only visual and also happens to be the only page in the application.

There are a range of frequencies within the app, 2 kHz being the lowest and most tolerable, all the way up to an unbearable 17kHz. The 2kHz fequency reminds me of the SMPTE color bars and tone: a type of television test pattern for broadcast TV.  You know what I’m talking about…that annoying BEEEEEEEEEEEP that you wake up to at 3AM when you suddenly realize that you passed out on your couch.

Anyways, once you get into the 15 kHz, 16 kHz, and 17 kHz range, the frequency reaches ear drum bursting levels.  These glass shattering sounds make you want to crumble to the ground, clinch your ears in a quiver, and hope for peace and silence!  What’s interesting is that the tone is so high that some people can’t even hear it. I personally found 17kHz intolerable and couldn’t bare it for more than 20-30 seconds.

I’d imagine that these frequencies are damaging to the eardrum so BE CAREFUL! If you’ve got a set of earplugs or noise cancelling headphones I’d recommend you keep them nearby.  I still had a ringing sound reverberating in my head when I wrote this review! The developers include a disclaimer that pops up when the app opens warning you to use at your own risk!

In attempting to find some decent value with Frequency Annoyer, we came up with a few scenarios where the app may actually come in use:

  • It could protect you from a wild animal or rabid dog preparing to attack.
  • If you want to get someone far, far away from you, (say the smelly kid standing next to you at the mall), this is a good way to do it.
  • Launch Frequency Annoyer discreetly, and watch everyone around you “mysteriously” obtain headaches and run for the Advil.
  • The line at Starbucks is way too long. Fire up Frequency Annoyer and watch them scatter, leading you straight to the counter to satisfy your caffeine craving.

If any of these scenarios appeal to you, then Frequency Annoyer just might have a home on your iPhone. Grab it today and let the terrorizing begin.
