Are you a multi-tasker at heart that wishes you could view two wepages at the same time from your iPhone? If so, then iBrowse2 is the app for you! iBrowse2 by BIC Development, is a Safari alternative web browser for the iPhone that lets you view two webpages at the same time! Never worry about switching from page to page or hitting the back/forward button repeatedly to try to view multiple websites, with iBrowse2 you can do it all from one screen! With it’s userfriendly controls you can easily view two websites in splitscreen mode, toggle from one site to the next, switch sites from one side of the screen to the next, and suppress the second page to only view one at a time.
iBrowse2 comes with all of the features you’ve come to expect with Safari plus many extras. Some of the more notable extras are private web browsing mode so your web history is not saved, c0ntrol hiding which lets you show/hide web navigation controls, and the ability to lock your screen view so it doesn’t toggle back and forth between landscape and portrait view. If you know you only want to view in landscape mode, just touch the little lock icon in the top left of the screen and it’ll stay that way! Also, at anytime, if you decide you’d like to see a page you’re currently viewing in Safari instead, there is an “Open in Safari” option that’ll launch the webpage in Safari for you. Pretty cool!
iBrowse2 Key Features:
Overall we found iBrowse2 to perform as advertised. We did notice however that there are times when it does not function as smoothly as Safari. Some webpages don’t display as cleanly as they do in Safari. We found this to be the case with mobile optimized news sites like MSN and CNN. The homepage displayed flawlessly as expected, but then subpages were displayed less cleanly with hints of a more text based display as opposed to continuing with the same mobile site presentment as one would see in Safari. We also noticed that the control hiding option was not working properly for us. However we’re confident that the folks at BIC Development will have a quick fix out for that issue. With all of that being said, the added features that iBrowse2 provides make it a welcome subsitute for Safari. If you’re looking for the ability to view multiple web pages at once, then iBrowse2 is the app to get!
