Innovative Rugby: Six Nations App Better Than TV, Say Fans

London, United Kingdom – Following a number of apps dedicated to football, and a successful first launch for the Rugby World Cup last summer, Live Rugby Six Nations launches to bring a mobile data revolution to rugby, powered by data from Opta Sports, a leading provider of live sports data.

Intended to augment the fans’ rugby experience, the app comes with a live, highly graphical stream of data including a text commentary and a visualization of all the events on the pitch, including every scrum, try, conversion, line-out, tackle, pass and breaks through defence.

Every rugby fan can turn into a sports commentator with Live Rugby by generating their own analytical graphical representation, share it on social networks like Twitter of Facebook, and discuss their stats and analysis with other users.

The app includes Teams profiles and Players bio, physical stats, and personal achievements. It also comes with historical data from the Six Nations 2011, to allow users to play with the app and see what they will be able to enjoy during the event.

“The amount of data available from Opta Sports is impressive”, says Giuseppe Sollazzo, developer of Live Rugby. “Opta is the leading company in real-time data provisioning of sports events to TV channels and sports websites and being able to use their data is amazing. I can literally track every tackle, pass, try, and scrum on the pitch, and compare success rates on the fly”.

LiveRugby has recently been featured on a number of major media, including The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, ITV Wales, and Sky Sports Italia.

Rugby-addicted fans describe it as “a modern, better way to follow a game rather than just watching it on TV”.
