Liquid Scale by Savoy Software adds a whole new dimension to photo editing on the iPhone and iPod Touch. With Liquid Scale you can edit, hide images, and scale photos with you fingertips to make them a perfect fit for posting online. For example, you’re out partying and you snapped a group pic that you look perfect in but there are some people lingering in the photo that you don’t want in there. Using your finger you can highlight any aspect of an image that you don’t want to show and can resize the photo to eliminate them. In seconds you can make the perfect image with the perfect fit for your blog, Facebook, Twitter, or chat account!
Liquid Scale works really well and is very easy to use. Personally it took me a few minutes to figure it out, but once I did I could edit images every which way to Sunday in less than 30 seconds. To edit an image all you have to do is choose an image from photo library, or take a pic using the camera button. From there you touch the image to bring up the edit menu.
There’s a + / – button in the middle that allows you to highlight areas of a picture that you want to either keep or remove. Just run your finger over the parts of the image that you want to highlight and when finished press the done button. From there just use your fingers to scale the image until all the items that you highlighted have disappeared. There are arrows on either side and above and below the image. Just touch the arrows and drag your finger inward/outward, up/down to scale the image. When finished you can save the image to your library and/or email it to your friends. It’s that easy, and the end result is a perfect picture.
Overall Liquid Scale is a great app. It does exactly what it says it does, and the finished picture quality is so good that no one will ever know that you’ve significantly altered the photo. I’ve used Liquid scale several times now to create avatars for my Twitter and chat accounts, and to alter photos to post on Facebook. I really like how easy it is to use and how convenient it is. Especially if you’re like me and like to post pics in real time as they’re happening. The only beef I have with this app is that it needs to have an undo button, because currently you have to use your finger to change what you’ve highlighted which seems a little clunky. I’d also like to see Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr integration. Aside from those little extras that hopefully come in the near future, Liquid Scale is a solid app and one worth owning.
