Meebo

Post Rating

Much like you I’ve been using chat aggregating software for years.  I started with Trillian and pretty much stuck with it even though I didn’t really like it.  Personally I’m not a big fan of 3rd party chat aggregating software.  I hate the annoying pop-ups, the tendency for some accounts to login and others not, those kinds of things.  Plus I hate being chained to a computer.  I use my iPhone for everything so what I really wanted was a solid all in one chat app.  Meebo is just that app!

Meebo is an all in one chat app for iPhone and iPod Touch that offers everything you need to stay connected with all your buds.  Now granted if you’ve got an iPod Touch you’ll need to be connected to WiFi for it to work, but let’s be real, we should all know that by now.  Anyway, Meebo let’s you hook up all of the chat and Social Networking accounts that matter like AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, and Facebook, and tons more into one easy to use interface.  They even have MySpace chat in there, but does MySpace really matter any more?  HAHA, kidding!  MySpace loyalists don’t hate!

Adding in all of your accounts works just how you’d expect.  Open the app, create a Meebo account if you don’t already have one, then add in all of your chat accounts.  When I said earlier that it includes all of the chat accounts and social networking accounts that matter I wasn’t kidding.  There’s literally too many to count.  Well, maybe not too many to count, but let’s put it this way, I opened up the chat account directory and it’s has so many that it takes several scrolls to get to the bottom!

Some additional features worth noting:

  • You can view and search your complete chat history
  • You can sync your Meebo desktop chat to your iPhone and take it with you

Meebo works great, looks great, is organized well, It’s comprehensive, and really is my favorite all in one iPhone chat application to date.  It’s really easy to keep track of all of your conversations, and push notification helps break the chain of keeping the app open all the time.  If you’re an avid online chatter then getting Meebo is a no brainer.  Don’t waste a second snatching this badboy up!
