MIDTOWNinmypocket is the second in a series of apps by AppFury LLC designed to help you quickly and easily find exactly what you’re looking for while in the city of New York. Modelled after its sister app SOHOinmypocket, MIDTOWNinmypocket provides an unbeatable listing of midtown Manhattan destinations, complete with maps, directions, deals and discounts!
I’ve been eagerly awaiting to review this app for a while now, but hadn’t quite found the time to sneak up to NYC. So finally, after sitting on the app for a couple months I was able to hit up midtown Manhattan for the weekend. I tell you what, as where my feelings with its sister app, the mapping that MIDTOWNinmypocket offers is incredibly hard to beat. It categorizes and color codes every destination from 38th St to 79thSt and Lexington Ave to Eighth Ave, which for most tourists is pretty much where they’ll spend all of their time (Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, 5th Ave, Madison Ave, Bryant Park, Diamond District, etc.). By default it offers an alphabetically categorized list view, but for visual people like myself it also offers an extremely slick map view.
The map view in AppFury LLC apps is extremely unique compared to other navigation apps. It doesn’t just show a million pins, requiring you to touch each one to find out what they are, and it doesn’t just display the pins of a specific category that you searched for. Instead it displays all destinations, categorizing them by color, and listing them all by name. Why is this helpful? Well, if you’re like me, you’re probably looking for more to do with you day then just finding a bank, or a restaurant, or a shoe repair shop, or whatever. With MIDTOWNinmypocket you can find a particular destination you want to visit, and without any further effort can scan the surrounding blocks for anything else that may interest you. You can literally spend a couple minutes with this app and end up planning out you’re entire day, complete with driving directions, and discounts and deals for those destinations!
There’s nothing really negative to say about this app. If you live in NYC or are visiting it makes a whole lot of sense to equip yourself with MIDTOWNinmypocket. Midtown Manhattan is a busy place with zillions of options. It’s really easy to miss out on the creme de la creme places when you don’t know where to go to find them. The unique map view this app has to offer coupled with the built in discounts and deals makes it a no brainer for native New Yorker’s and tourists alike.
