MucknAround

Post Rating

Muck’n Around, developed by Ascended Games, Inc., is a game that’s ideal for those idle moments where you have some time to burn. If you need a fun distraction to take your mind off things for a bit, this may be the game for you. It’s a game that can be completed quickly, making it a good choice for those moments in your daily regimen where you only have a moment to spend; like commuting, during your lunch break, or even sneaking in a game or two at the office!  The developers refer to the game as: “THE GAME to have for the busy lifestyle! If you have to put the phone down mid game, just turn the phone back on and continue where you left off! No penalties! No stress! No worries!”

The objective of the game is simple enough: Remove as many tiles as possible. To do this you need to ensure the tiles are color side up, no tile is on top of the tile you are trying to remove, one edge of the tile is free, and the tile color matches your chosen color this turn. There are five rounds within a game and in each round you must choose a color before tile removal. Once all your moves are exhausted, you advance to a new round in hopes to remove more layers of tile. Super tiles may be collected anytime and automatically collects all tiles matching the current turns color. Pick another color and continue on the same turn, without needing to advance to the next round. The goal is to get through all five rounds with the least amount of tiles as possible, remove all tiles and you win!

Muck’n Around has addictive game-play. This puzzle playing strategy game keeps you coming back for more and more! Additional features include three levels of difficulty, (easy, hard, and insane,) and  menu system with a high score’s screen. In terms of graphics we found this app to be lacking in detail. The graphics have somewhat of a dated feel to them, and the menu’s are pretty “plain Jane”. The music and sound design also need some updating, the jingle during game-play becomes too repetitive in our opinion. There was also a lack of responsiveness while using the touch controls when playing. At times we found tiles difficult to turn over. A bug was also discovered (V 1.1) on the credits menu page, the help page, and when the “game over” text pops up at the end of a game. If you click the screen on any of these areas, the text module is activated strangely enough, pulling up the keyboard and displaying text that is built into the app. Hopefully an update will be released soon to fix this issue, as it’s quite distracting. But in site of these issues, we still like Muck’n Around and would recommend it as a fun strategy/puzzle player. If you enjoy this genre of game-play, check out Muck’n Around today at the app store.
