NFI – Need For Intuition

NFI – Need For Intuition developed by GoodCode is a clever brain teaser that tests your ability to problem-solve. Work your way through a wide variety of puzzles: whether it’s figuring out what button to push next, how to get past a road block, or how to strike a match. You’ll find the “trial and error” approach to be your best method for advancing through the game.

While some of these puzzles are very easy, others are quite challenging and may be a struggle at first, only to find that the answer was simple all along! The app differentiates itself from other apps because it takes you straight to the game, as opposed to starting out with a “main menu” or at least a “help” section. It is up to you to find out how to get yourself though the challenges. Once  you do, you’re on a roll! That is… until you are unable to solve that task, at which point, you will have to start all the way from the beginning. This was one of the downfalls of the app, because it’s a bit annoying to start from scratch. However, you do get sucked in to figuring out what the next problem will be.

Adding checkpoints within the application would really be helpful. When you get stuck on a puzzle, you naturally want to go directly back to where you left off and figure it out instead of starting all over again. Another noteworthy item that seemed to be missing was the lack of a help or hint button. If you simply can’t get past a puzzle it would be nice to be able to access a hint button so you can continue on your way.

NFI – Need For Intuition gets points for originality and out-of-the-box challenges, but falls short because of its lack of a few quite important features. If your ready for a head-scratcher and are looking for a different way to test your savvy you may want to give this one a shot.
