Outpost Titan

Post Rating

Outpost Titan is a new action packed arcade game on the iTunes App Store. In Outpost Titan the user takes command of a remote Star base orbiting the Saturn moon Titan. Your mission is to protect the Outpost from all attacks and to stop the enemy from reaching the moon at all costs. Wage battle against wave after wave of relentless enemy star ships. You have to be fast and use your limited weapons wisely to defeat them. If you are skilled enough to vanquish the enemy’s entire fleet, you will face the enemy’s mother ship, the most powerful battle ship in the known galaxy.

I found the game play of Outpost Titan to be fun. The touch screen play was very responsive which made it  easy to both defend from and attack enemy ships. The overall game play involves tapping enemy ships on the iPhone or iPod Touch screen to fire your standard Outpost laser weapon at them. If you tap directly on a ship you are guaranteed a hit. That being said some ships have shields protecting them, so it can take several hits to destroy them, all the while you are undertaking fire from a fleet of enemy ships draining your own protective shield. I do like that the game enables the player to easily increase their shield strength simply by tapping the Outpost on the touch screen. Of course every time you tap the station to increase your shield strength is one less shot you are able to direct at the enemy.

There is definitely a strategic element to Outpost Titan in that you have to manage your taps to both ensure you destroy the enemy while also ensuring your shield is up. There are also specialty weapons you can employ to assist you in war waging. These include a full scale missile attack on all enemy ships, a full scale shield drain on all enemy ships and also a booster to gain back your own stations shield strength back to 100% power.

When it comes down to it, Outpost Titan, developed by Brian Teeter, is a fun game that is great for the price. Sure the graphics could be better and in general the game could be more robust in features, however it’s entertaining and something you can easily pick and play to help pass the time by.
