I don’t know about you, but I never really carry a camera around anymore. If I snap pics it’s with my iPhone. And of course, the first thing most of us want to do after snapping pics is to post them on Facebook. Well, if you’re anything like me then you only post pics that you look pefect in, which for me is a very rare occurrence
. What a tragedy. Many a quality party pic has remained buried deep within my iPhone as a result. Well now all of that has changed! With the Photo Makeover app you can quickly and easilty tweak your pics with the touch of a professional, directly from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Weird face shapes, odd mouth expressions, squinty or uneven eyes gone forever!
Photo Makeover, created by Reallusion Inc., really works well and is very easy to use. I don’t know about you but I’m a squinter. My eyes are trained to squint immediately before a camera flashes. I plucked one of my many squinty eyed pics and ran it through Photo Makeover to see if I could make it better. I didn’t really have to do much of anything to make it perfect. I opened the pic in Photo Makeover, moved four dots, one to each corner of my eyes and mouth, then chose to use the built in Expression Templates, and just like that my eyes were perfect.
With Photo Makeover you can easily tweak the typical problem areas that plague many of us. You can adjust head proportions, the width of faces, tweak mouth expressions, open and widen eyes, lighten/darken color, and a bunch of other stuff. If you’re a perfectionist you can manually tweak using your fingers or you can do like I did and use the built in templates to optimize your pics. Personally I think the templates are the best way to go. They’re much faster and produce great results. No matter which method you choose, whenever you’re finished tweaking your pic to perfection you can post it to Facebook directly from the app!
Key Features of Photo Makeover:
If there was as an area that I think could be improved upon within the app it’d be the Manual Adjustment mode. In manual mode you’re adjusting pics with you fingers; pinching, dragging, etc. Currently it’s a little hard to be precise because when you touch an area on an image like the corner of a mouth you cover it up and can’t see what you’re doing. It’d be better if when you touched an area on an image a small window with a zoomed in view displayed above your finger so you can see exactly what you’re doing.
Overall Photo Makeover delivers. Optimizing photos from an iPhone and iPod Touch couldn’t be easier. The app’s interface flows logically and is easy enough for your grandmother to use it. If you use your iPhone or iPod Touch to crank out pics and post ‘em to Facebook then this is definitely an app worth having.
