If you’re a fan of Pocket God then you’re sure to enjoy Pocket Devil - Hell Yeah!, from development company eyedip. Pocket Devil will let you unleash your devilish side of being a God and wreak havoc on your red little horned minions. Though it’s still in it’s infancy when compared to the ever popular app Pocket God, it definitely holds up well and has carved out it’s own unique perspective with regards to the theme and features. With all sorts of bloody options this app is sure to keep you entertained for hours, plus updates keep coming.
Pocket Devil puts you in control of hell and it’s up to you who lives or dies or more to the point how they will die. As you start out you will get to make your own Mugat by choosing from five different faces, or you can add your own face or the face of anyone you want with the in app purchase of Mugat You for an extra $0.99. After you have given your Mugat a head its time to do some damage. You will then spawn your mugats and watch them as they crawl out of the ground whereby you can kill them in several different ways. Some of the more menacing killing methods include hanging from metal chains, being impaled by tritons, getting their heads removed with a guillotine, and last but not lease being eaten by a giant Rat. Each murderous method entails some level of blood and gore so be sure to keep this one away from little kids.
Aside from the simple fun of controlling you’re mugats lifespans via many various methods of death and destruction, there are also some mini games that are fun to play when you are not in the mood to inflict pain on the Mugat. Not to mention you can even add in a female mugat love interest for your little devils to fight over. If variation is the spice of life, then with various game-plays, features and constant updates, Pocket Devil is keeping the spice rack full. Pardon the metaphors
I have noticed that Pocket Devil has received many bad reviews on iTunes by users due to it’s obvious similarities to Pocket Got. I find these reviews to be quite unfair. Pocket Devil is a great app and though Pocket Devil definitely went with a similar gameplay, it’s theme and features within it are quite different. And with over 100k apps in the app store I think a little healthy competition not to mention variation is healthy and appreciated. The graphics and audio are both great and it’s obvious time and cost has been spent in it’s development. With this app consistently being updated it will be an app I keep on my phone for some time.
Update: August 18, 2010 – Be sure to check out the all new Pocket Devil HD! It looks amazing on the iPad and has some great new tortuous devices to use.
