Rocket Bird 3D

Don’t let its looks fool you!  Rocket Bird 3D may look extremely basic, and it is, but I bet once you try it you won’t be able to put it down!  In Rocket Bird 3D you’re a speed fiending bird on a mission to fly farther and faster than anyone else.  Realizing that wings aren’t as sexy as rockets, you strap a lightening fast rocket to your back and take off like a bat out of hell!  Unfortunately the rocket may be sexier and faster but it’s so heavy that it keeps you hovering close to the ground.  As a result, to stay alive and to fly far you’ve got to constantly weave around trees, fences, barns, hay bails, etc.  On slight miscalculation and SPLAT!

Created by BeTomorrow, Rocket Bird 3D is an excellent app for gamers of all ages.  It’s easy enough for small kids to grasp, but still challenging enough to keep adults competing for the global high score.  The game is a 100% tilt controlled, so just grab either side of your iPhone/iPod touch and steer for your life.  Rocket Bird 3D is a 100% free app that comes standard with three endless levels of varying difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard).  For those looking for additional sounds and scenery you can purchase a music pack with four new tracks, and a super fast turbo rocket level for $0.99 each.

In Rocket Bird 3D you don’t have multiple lives, just one, so you’ve got to be on top of your game to wrack up long distances.  Aside from the aforementioned obstacles that end your life on impact, your rocket needs constant refueling.  Scattered throughout each level are stars that add fuel to your rocket.  If you have any aspirations of showing up high on the global leaderboard you better be good at collecting stars.  Be careful though, as you seek them out you’ll find they’re often tucked in hard to reach places where one false move leads to your demise.  On top of that, when you collect a star it gives you a sudden and short burst of speed.  For a brief moment obstacles fly toward you at near unbearable speeds so make sure to be extra attentive after snatching a star or you may not be flying for long.

Overall I loved Rocket Bird 3D.  The sounds and songs are decent, the graphics are great, the game experience feels natural, and the game itself is just plain fun.  It’s ideal for time killing situations.  It only takes seconds or minutes to play and definitely sucks you in as you start to fly further and further.  Kids and Adults will both love this one, and the fact that it’s free makes it a total no brainer to download.  Happy flying!
