Smackarooni

Smackarooni by Spinapse, Inc. is a virtual snowball fight in the palm of your hand.  See who’s snowball fighting skills reign supreme when you face-off against Smacky  or dual it out mono y mono with a friend over Wi-Fi.  The object of the game is to hit your opponent with the as many snowballs as you can.  The first player to go up by two hits wins.  During game play you must choose between loading up on more snowballs, throwing one at your opponent, or dodging an incoming blow.  Make sure to choose correctly, because if you don’t, SPLAT!

Smackarooni’s gameplay is simple enough for children ages 4 and up to play. There’s an Easy, Medium, and Hard setting so you can conveniently adjust the game to fit your skill level.  Overall we found the game to be relatively easy.  It took roughly 5 or 6 games before we could consistently beat Smacky at all levels. Because of that we believe Smackarooni is better suited for children ages 12 and under.  Anyone within that age group will likely find the game amusing.  The ability for friends to dual it out over Wi-Fi adds a little extra depth to the game. Without that we think it’s likely many would get bored with it after a dozen or so games.

Overall we found Smackarooni to be a decent app.  We didn’t experience any crashes, and found that of the children we tested the app with, all of them seemed to enjoy it.  If you’ve got children under the age of 13 and are looking to beef up your iPhone game arsenal to keep them busy at home or on road trips, then it might be worth your time to check out Smackarooni!
