The Tattoo List
Looking to get “Inked-up” but having trouble finding the perfect artist for the job? If so you really need to take a look at The Tattoo List app for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This app is a wonderful tool for artists and fanatics alike. Inner Circle did a great job with the functionality of the application and brought pretty much all the elements you’ll need to find an artist for that specific tattoo you’ve always had in mind.
The app gives you access to over 300 of the best tattoo artists in the United States. Every artist was “hand picked” and juried by peers in the industry to insure top-quality guys have been included. What’s great about the app is you can search by location using “Near Me”, which organizes the list by providing artists closest to you. Get a detailed rundown of the artist; specific location, a website link, phone number and email address, as well as his or her specific art style. Also included are a few image samples of the artists work, which come in handy when trying to figure out one’s style. Another cool feature is the map locator. Tap the arrow to the right of the listing and get a pinpoint locator exactly to the artists location. The map locator option is integrated very nicely into the app.
The Tattoo List’s overall layout and menu design are simple and elegant, making for easy navigation and quick access. You can filter by tattoo type: select from styles like Organic, Japanese, Stylized and Biomech (10 styles in all to select from). Of course you can also search alphabetically. Additional features include a news section which provides an area where users can suggest a new tattoo artist. The news section also has a help section that defines tattoo styles, provides links, and other useful information. A “favorites” section is also included so you can filter your fav’s to a separate page for future reference.
Having an app such as this is a great resource if you are in the industry or just simply looking for that next tattoo. Updates to The Tattoo List will be critical to the apps success; making sure all the artists info is current and up to date and also adding upcoming artists to the list will be an important factor. At $1.99 I think it’s a great value. It’s an app that all people in the industry should own. The Tattoo List is the perfect example of an app that joins community and common interests together with the use of technology. Future updates should bring even more media to the app so users can get a better feel of the artists work within the app, but this is a great starting point and has the most important information covered.
