I Am T-Pain

YEYAAH…OOOKAY…UH-HUH!  After 5 seconds with the I Am T-Pain app by Smule it’s easy to see why Apple named it Best App of 2009.  This is the most fun I’ve had on an iPhone; period!  T-Pain has been topping the charts with hits like Bartender and I’m N Luv (Wit A Stripper) for years now, but aside from his catchy lyrics and unmistakable style, it’s his auto-tune sound that’s made him standout the most.  Now, with just an iPhone/iPod Touch, some headphones, and the I Am T-Pain app anybody can unleash their inner T-Pain!

To become T-Pain all you have to do is connect your standard iPhone headphones or plug in a microphone and/or speaker and you’ve got an instant auto-tune karaoke party.  You can choose to sing along to T-Pain’s biggest hits (words included) or you can freestyle to any song on your iPod.  Even the auto-tune feature is customizable so you can achieve the best results possible.  At any time you can compare you’re golden pipes with people from all over the globe.  Simply touch the Globe button on the menu bar to listen to people singing from all over the globe.  This feature functions just like the globe feature in Ocarina and Leaf Trombone, but in my opinion is way more amusing.  If you’ve recorded something you’re proud of, sharing with friends and strangers is super easy.  With a touch of a button you can broadcast your jam to the rest of the globe, and likewise with just a couple touches you can share your masterpiece by email, Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace!

Regrettably, I never really paid much attention to this app even with all of the hype it was getting.  It wasn’t until I witnessed the Smule Mule creating his own pimpified T-Pain tunes at MacWorld that I jumped on the bandwagon (watch video).  So today I downloaded the I Am T-Pain music app and it only took me about 2 seconds to be completely hooked. Everything about the I Am T-Pain music app is well done.  The interface, sounds, options, graphics, and pretty much everything it provides are all amazing.  It’s so freakin fun to mess around with this app it isn’t even funny.  If you haven’t downloaded this one yet it’s an absolute must.  I’ve tried out all of the Smule apps and this one is by far my favorite!

Pros:

• Ridiculously fun & doesn’t get old
• Super amusing to listen to people sing from all over the globe
• Appeals to people of all ages

Cons:

• Doesn’t allow you to trim a song that you’ve recorded
