Add another word game to your list of must have apps! WordCrasher is an addictive new word solving puzzle game where letters fall from the sky and bounce around the screen with realistic physics. It’s your job to seek out and touch letters to spell words. Each time you complete a word the letters “crash” and explode making room for the ever falling storm of letters. The bigger the word, the more points you earn. Most importantly you’ve got to identify words quickly before the letters pile up to the top of the screen and end your game!

So yeah, I know what you’re thinking. This doesn’t sound any different from many other word games available for iPhone and iPod Touch. And for the most part I’d say you’re right. However, what sets WordCrasher apart are it’s exceptionally user friendly interface and game-play and it’s extremely impressive graphics and animation! The moment you open the app it screams quality. Everything from the game menus, to the interactive free-flowing tutorial, the realistic in-game physics, and the ultra crisp graphics are all perfect. It literally compels you to dive in and start playing right away. Kevin Ng, the app’s developer has some serious game development skills. He’s worked for top notch gaming companies such as EA and Rockstar Games, and let me tell you it shows!

WordCrasher comes with two types of game-play options: Marathon and Flood Panic, both of which are aptly named. Marathon mode is basically game-play without time restrictions. You solve words for as long as you can, piling up the points along the way. As long as you can keep the letters from stacking up to the ceiling then you can play for an eternity. Flood Panic mode is very different. The screen fills up with water as the letters continue to fall, forcing you to find words much more quickly in order to keep the water at bay. The longer you take the quicker the water fills your screen and before you know it the letters float to the top and it’s game over!

No matter which game mode you choose you’re surely going to fall in love with WordCrasher’s stellar in-game physics. The letters fall, bounce, and roll as if ther are marbles trapped within your iPhone. In Flood Panic mode letters hit the water with a splash, sink deep under the surface, and then shoot out of the water like a booey dropped from a helecopter. All the while the water sways effortlessly back and forth when you tilt your iPhone. Combine the continously falling letters, letters bouncing in and out of the water, and the playing area swaying back and forth and getting increasingly smaller and you’ve got yourself one heck of a word game that’s sure to put anyone’s hand-eye coordination, problem solving, and vocab skills to the ultimate test!

On top of all of the cool things I just mentioned, Word Crasher is Facebook and Twitter enabled, and keeps track of all of your accomplishments and top scores using OpenFient. Can’t beat that! All in all, WordCrasher is a really fun and addictive app. It’s got killer graphics and animation, recognizes over 65,000 words, works for both iPhone and iPod Touch, and is 100% worth the download!
