Xmas Crackers

So the holiday’s are here again. Time to spend some quality time with the family, drink lots of eggnog, sing Christmas carols and eat lots of food! Well this year how about mixing it up a little? Break out the ole’ handy dandy iPhone while the family is huddled around the fireplace and launch up Xmas Crackers! This app is designed for those holiday group gatherings and is sure to bring a good laugh.

Xmas Crackers, created by T A Walker Concepts Ltd, is an entertainment app that provides lots of fun for kids, the family, or even with a group of friends at a holiday party. Its loaded with plenty of jokes, riddles, charades and anagrams to keep the crowd entertained. Once you start up the app, you’ll find a large candy-looking wrapper centered in the screen. Slide both fingers outward to unwrap the package, which explodes to expose a list of jokes, riddles, and so on. Supplementary Christmas jingles and falling graphic snowflakes add to the holiday cheer. As the crackers are revealed, you are presented with one joke, one anagram, a riddle, and a charade. This is a nice feature because you have up to four games to play every time a new cracker is opened. To show the answers at any time during game play, simply click the “Reveal Answers” button located in the lower right corner.

This app is pretty basic so there are not too many features to list. You have a sound on/off option, and a “How-To” page that explains the process behind opening up a cracker to reveal the jokes, riddles, etc. We uncovered a minor bug in version 1.2. When loading a “New Cracker”  there were occasions where the old text remained on the screen briefly after the unwrapping transition took place. The refresh delay was minimal, maybe around a second or so, but this caught our eye.

Xmas Crackers delivers on what it promises. Yeah, some of the jokes are a bit on the cheesy side, but they also have some good ones in the mix as well. I found the anagrams to be quite challenging at times. The anagrams stick with the Christmas holiday theme so you have some direction as you try to solve the puzzle.  If you and your family enjoy jokes and riddle solving, give this app a try during the holiday season. With over 50 variations, this is Christmas entertainment in the palm of your hand. Even Uncle Scrooge should want to join in on the Xmas Cracker fun!
